2011 Scholarship Recipients
In 2011, nearly 90% of Building Tomorrow’s P7 students passed the Primary Leaving Exam which is a great achievement compared to Uganda’s national primary school completion rate, which is just 57%. Of those who graduate from primary school, only 12% receive a secondary education.
With the help of JFK, Building Tomorrow awarded scholarships to ten of its graduating students, who are now pursuing their dreams of furthering their education in secondary school. George Srour and Joseph Kaliisa of Building Tomorrow recently met up with the Class of 2011 and were amazed by their passion to learn and their drive to succeed.
While their professional ambitions range from anchorwomen to nurses and lawyers, they all share a determination and enthusiasm to not only learn but to encourage their peers to follow in their footsteps. It is this spirit and commitment to improving education within their communities that makes JFK and Building Tomorrow incredibly proud of the students that make up the Class of 2011.
